Dr. Ying Zhang
Assistant Professor, Controlled Environments
Dr. Ying Zhang is an assistant professor and controlled environments specialist in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering department at the University of Florida. The mission of her program is to develop resource-efficient production systems combining interdisciplinary knowledge and technical expertise in Engineering for year-round optimized plant production in Controlled Environments.
Dr. Zhang’s research involves improving system designs and climate uniformity in indoor production systems with Computational Fluid Dynamics. She collaborates across disciplines to evaluate the limits of plant production systems and explores low-risk, cost-effective solutions to improve production efficiency and solve significant problems affecting crop growth. Another part of Dr. Zhang’s program includes conducting energy analysis of agriculture production systems to evaluate system efficiency and engineering system optimization strategies. Her research interests include design and engineering advancements investigations in climate control systems and co-optimization analysis of production environment for efficient plant production systems.
