This panel will focus on next-generation science, technology and policy challenges and solutions for water and agriculture. The panel moderator will be Dr. Wendy Graham, Carl S. Swisher Eminent Scholar and Director of the University of Florida Water Institute.

Panelists include:

  • Hugh Thomas, Executive Director, Suwannee River Water Management District
  • Dr. Ann Shortelle, Executive Director, St. Johns River Water Management District

Research Innovations, Poster Session
Dr. Rob Gilbert will provide a research overview that includes historical examples of policy driven by science in Florida. His opening comments will be followed by select UF faculty research innovations informing policy in Florida.

Dr. Rob Gilbert is IFAS Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station.

2:30-3:30 p.m.

Next Steps for BANR on Agriculture, Water, and Genetics: Board Brainstorming Discussion
Reflecting on the presentations at this meeting as well as those from other BANR 75th Anniversary events, what could BANR be doing to catalyze forward progress on these issues? What activities and/or next steps are appropriate for universities to advance these topics?
