    Resources for Beginning Farmers


    USDA defines beginning farmers and ranchers as those who have operated a farm or ranch for 10 years or less either as a sole operator or with others who have operated a farm or ranch for 10 years or less.

        • The University of Florida IFAS Extension offers a Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Program that offers beginning farmers with resources supporting funding, education, direct marketing, and business planning
      • FAMU : Brooksville Agricultural Environmental Research Station (BAERS)
        • Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) offers beginning farmer and rancher trainings, while also focusing on offering resources for underserved African American farming populations.
