Varshitha Prasanna

Doctoral Candidate, Agricultural Sciences

Background: Raised in a rural Indian village; educated at KSNUAHS in Karnataka, India.

Experience: Previous research at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research in Bengaluru, India.

Research Interests: Precision management of water and nitrogen, crop modeling, and remote sensing to improve crop productivity and reduce environmental impacts.

I was brought up in a rural Indian village, where my formative years were spent farming. The bachelor’s and master’s degrees I earned from KSNUAHS in Karnataka, India, provide me with a solid foundation in academics. Previously, I worked at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research in Bengaluru, India, where I gained experience managing research projects. The experience at IIHR kindled my interest in pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, and I am enrolled as a doctoral candidate under the mentorship of Dr. Sharma. In my research, I focus on the precision management of water and nitrogen, coupled with crop modeling techniques for potatoes. Additionally, I use cutting-edge technologies, such as remote sensing, to maximize crop productivity while minimizing environmental impact. In the long term, I strive to become a dedicated and accomplished researcher in my field of study.
