Neus Alcón BouPostdoctoral Research Associate, Agricultural and Biological EngineeringResearch focus: Florida Agricultural Soil Moisture Sensor Network" aiming to promote irrigation Best Management Practices (BMPs) to enhance water use efficiency. Education: Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences focusing on irrigation strategies and cultivar selection for salinity management in citrus from University of Florida (2024). M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain (2020) |
Dr. Neus Alcon earned a Bachelor of Science in Plant Sciences from Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain) in 2018, where she focused on pest identification in blackberry cultivars and evaluation of pesticide applications. During this time, she also worked in the private sector, implementing sustainable pest management strategies for citrus and other crops. In 2020, she completed a Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de València. As part of her graduate studies, she collaborated with the University of Florida, where she developed an algorithm to detect plant temperature from thermal images captured both manually and by drones (UAVs). Neus continued her academic journey at the University of Florida, earning a Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences in December 2024. Her dissertation research focused on salinity management in citrus production, addressing critical challenges for growers in Florida’s southeastern region. |
