Precision Water Management

Precision Water Management

Mekhala Mitra

Graduate Research Assistant, Agricultural and Biological Engineering

Research focus: Utilizing remote sensing with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms to investigate the interlinkages between water quantity and quality dynamics and crop productivity at local to regional scales.

Education:

M.Tech (2021-2023)
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dehradun, India
Remote Sensing and GIS (Specialization: Agriculture and Soils)

B.Tech (2017-2021)
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal, India
Agricultural Engineering

I completed my Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, West Bengal, India, in 2021, where I was first introduced to technological applications in agriculture. To further explore the intersection of technology and agriculture, I pursued a Master of Technology in Remote Sensing and GIS with a specialization in Agriculture and Soils at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dehradun, India, and graduated in 2023. My master’s research focused on monitoring tea plantation conditions and growth stages using multisource remote sensing data. Currently, I am a PhD student in the Precision Water Management Lab under the supervision of Dr. Vivek Sharma, where my research integrates remote sensing with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms to investigate the interlinkages between water quantity and quality dynamics and crop productivity at local to regional scales.
