Dr. Bere Benjamin BantchinaPostdoctoral Research Associate, Agricultural and Biological EngineeringResearch focus: Precision agriculture, variable rate irrigation, site-specific fertigation, Vis-NIR Spectroscopy, remote sensing, and machine learning applications in agriculture. Education: Dr. Bantchina graduated with a bachelor’s in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Parakou in Benin. He later received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering from Bursa Uludag University in Türkiye. |
Dr. Bantchina comes from a farming background, which inspired his lifelong passion for sustainable agriculture and has profoundly shaped his academic and professional journey. During his Ph.D., he contributed as a researcher to a transnational, collaborative, and interdisciplinary project funded by the European Union, focused on ICT-enabled agri-food systems, which led to the development of a cloud-based, automated variable-rate fertigation system. Before joining the University of Florida as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, Dr. Bantchina served as a Visiting Scholar at Ghent University in Belgium, where he deepened his expertise in precision agriculture. Driven by a strong commitment to advancing agricultural sustainability and resource-use efficiency, Dr. Bantchina harnesses cutting-edge technologies to address critical global water and soil management challenges. |
