Impact of Climate and Landuse Change on Shoreline-dependent Bird Populations.

Climate change is expected to significantly alter low-lying coastal and intertidal areas, which provide significant seasonal habitat for a variety of shoreline-dependent bird populations. Many coastal military installations in Florida contain significant coastal habitat that will potentially be impacted by climate change.

The objective of this work was to develop a systematic tool to explore climate variability and change effects on habitat and population dynamics for Snowy Plover and Piping Plover on selected coastal Florida military sites. Results of this work have been published in PLoS One (link).
