Graduate Student
Application Procedures

Applicants must complete the on-line application and provide the materials requested by the University of Florida Graduate School. All materials must be submitted on-line,

NOTE: Only students completing an undergraduate or Masters degree in engineering should apply to the ABE graduate program in the College of Engineering. All other applicants should apply through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Application Deadline:

Students must apply and submit all required materials and scores by December 5th for admission to the Fall semester, and by July 15th for admission to the Spring semester.

The following materials will be required of all applicants:

  • Copy of official transcripts from each college or university attended (International students must send transcripts/diploma certificates in both the ORIGINAL and ENGLISH languages).
  • Official GRE scores (UF Code 5812)
  • TOEFL scores (if required) - (UF Code 5812)
  • A personal statement with your proposed area of study
  • 3 Letters of recommendation (submitted on-line)

Be sure to send ORIGINAL, OFFICIAL transcript & scores to:

DO NOT SEND PRINTED MATERIALS, TRANSCRIPTS OR SCORES TO THE ABE DEPARTMENT! UPLOAD ALL DOCUMENTS TO THE UF ADMISSION APPLICATION.

YOU MAY UPLOAD COPIES OF TRANSCRIPTS FOR PRELIMINARY REVIEW BY THE ABE DEPARTMENT.

If you are unable to submit all documents on-line due to extenuating circumstances please contact rsnyder@ufl.edu.

We prefer Letters of Recommendation to be submitted on-line but if that is not possible you can send them to:

Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis, when available, to students wishing to pursue a degree with research thesis or dissertation.

UF Assistantships for the Fall semester are often awarded at the beginning of the calendar year.

NOTE: If you are eligible for a government scholarship or funding from an outside source please contact Robin Snyder at rsnyder@ufl.edu so that information can be noted on your file. If there is a deadline for you to receive an admission decision in order to receive those funds it is important that you alert us to that date.

Application Materials

Students are encouraged to apply for admission as early as possible in order to obtain one of the limited assistantships available.
