Wendy Graham was the recipient of the Gamma Sigma Delta Distinguished Leadership Award of Merit.

Kati MigliaccioKati Migliaccio, Assistant Professor

Kati Migliaccio was the recipient of the Richard Jones Outstanding New Faculty Research Award for 2009. This award is presented to untenured faculty who have begun a distinguished record of research programs since arriving at UF/IFAS.

Melissa HaleyMelissa Baum Haley, Graduate Student

Melissa Haley was the recipient of the Vam C. York Scholarship for 2009. This award is presented annually by the Agricultural Women's Club to an outstanding student.

Nicholas CrookstonNicholas Crookston, Packaging Science

Nicholas was the recipient of two prestigious awards. He was chosen as the winner of the 2009 Paper Competition sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission and the Institute of Packaging Professionals. The title of his paper was "Innovations in Materials for Microwaveable Soup Packaging". He joins a handful of other student winners for a fully paid trip to Italy this summer. Nicholas was also awarded the Bronze Award in the Robert Sheffler Packaging Innovation Competition and a $1000 scholarship from the NJPEC and Topline Products.

Cecilia was the recipient of the Marilyn Little Scholarship from Altrusa International of Gainesville and also the Manny Fernandez Graduate Student Scholarship awarded by the UF Association of Hispanic Alumni.

Steve Feagle and Cheryl Porter were awarded IFAS Superior Accomplishment Awards for 2009. The awards are presented annually to IFAS staff members for outstanding performance in their professional or technical category.

Melissa GermainMelissa Germain, PKS Student

Melissa was awarded Awarded an International Safe Transit Association Foundation R. David LeButt Scholarship. Melissa was selected on a combination of academic records, and extra curricular activities including participation with professional associations.She also received the Gold Award in the Robert Sheffler Packaging Innovation Competition and was awarded a $2000.00 scholarship courtesy of the NJPEC and Topline Products. 

Ayman Abdellatief and Wei LiuWei Liu and Ayman Abdellatief, Graduate Students

The ABE Department presented awards for Excellence in Graduate Research to Wei Liu for her PhD dissertation "Enhancement of Anaerobic Digestion of Solid Wastes by Pre-Treatment and Post-Treatment” and to Ayman Abdellatief for his Master's thesis "New Apparatus Simplifies Design of Modified Atmosphere Packaging Using Perforated Films”.

Magalie LanielMagalie Laniel, Graduate Student

Magalie was awarded the Richard F. Heaney Memorial Scholarship for the Southeast Chapter of the International Beverage Packaging Association. The awards are based on grade point average overall and in packaging courses, financial need, extracurricular activities and a completed essay.
